Fudgesicle Pie

Be sure to use the correct size cake mix. This size makes a single 9" cake layer; the 18.25-ounce package of cake mix will give you way too much and won’t blend correctly with the other ingredients.

INGREDIENTS | SERVES 8

1 (9-ounce) package devil’s food cake mix

¼ cup butter

1 egg white

1 (4-ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix

1 cup milk

2 cups chocolate ice cream, softened

1½ cups frozen whipped topping, thawed

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 9" pie plate with nonstick baking spray containing flour; set aside.

2. In a medium bowl, combine cake mix, butter, and egg white; mix until crumbly. Press into bottom and up sides of pie plate. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes or until crust is set. Cool completely.

3. In large bowl, combine pudding mix and milk; mix until blended. Beat in chocolate ice cream, then fold in whipped topping. Pour into prepared crust, cover, and freeze 3 to 4 hours until firm.

Pudding Mixes

Pudding mixes come in two types: instant and cooked. Be sure that you choose the correct type that the recipes calls for. If you use a cooked pudding mix in an instant pudding mix recipe, you’ll have a failure on your hands, and vice versa.
