Unknown Location
“I
’ve made the arrangements. The flight has been booked through our usual proxies with our usual crew. I’ll make sure the locals know tomorrow that we have a special delivery. We’ll be able to send them anywhere you want.”
Richter paused. “You’re not letting the locals know tonight?”
“I felt it was best to wait. Even though this is one of our regular routes, with this all over the news, I figured it was best not to give them any time to speculate, then get any inconvenient ideas.”
Richter smiled. “Good thinking. I want you to make the exchange.”
Gerhard’s eyebrows shot up, a rare expression of surprise from his longtime companion. “Me?”
“You’re the only one I trust.”
“Very well. Where?”
Richter chewed his cheek. “I’m thinking Rome. It’s a short flight for them and you, and we’ve used it for exchanges before. Arrange it, but don’t leave until we know they’re in the air. No point having you leave if something goes wrong between now and then.”
“Very well, sir.”
Richter grabbed his phone. “Now to give our professors their destination.”
