Marrakesh Menara Airport
Marrakesh, Morocco
K ane positioned the car at an angle then stepped around the front and opened the door, using it to hopefully shield his ill-fitting clothes. The driver, now in the trunk of Bennani’s vehicle, had provided them with all the details for the pick-up, and Kane was now smiling at the man they assumed was the buyer as he stepped from the private jet.
Kane bowed slightly. “Sir. I trust your flight was uneventful.”
The man nodded. He bent over to climb in the back when he paused, looking at Kane’s pants, several inches too short. He said nothing, getting inside, but Kane was certain suspicions had been raised.
He closed the door and climbed in the driver’s seat. “We’ll be there in about two hours, sir.”
The man pointed at the divider. “Some privacy, please.”
“Yes, sir.” Kane pressed the button to put the partition up, then picked up the earpiece to his comm and pressed it into his ear, allowing him to hear the transmission from the bug he had planted in the rear.
Where his passenger was already making a call.
He glanced at the cellphone jammer he had sitting in the passenger seat. He could stop the man from making calls, though that might raise suspicions if he didn’t have any. But they needed to know who the buyer was. He was quite certain that this man was just an intermediary. There was a good chance he was calling his boss, rather than Richter.
“The driver you sent me has ill-fitting clothes. Describe him to me.”
Kane cursed and activated the jammer.
“Hello? Hello?” The man growled and Kane smiled, activating his comm.
“Control, I think I’ve been made. He didn’t like the cut of my jib. I jammed his phone, but red flags are going to have been raised.”
“Copy that, keep us posted. I’ll notify Delta of the situation. They’re nearing the compound now.”
