“U
h oh. We’ve got another problem.”
Leroux didn’t like the sound of Tong’s voice. “What now?”
“Look at this.”
He rose and stepped toward the displays as an image appeared showing a dozen vehicles leaving an army depot. “What am I looking at?”
“A large number of troops just left Ouirgane Barracks, and they’re heading in the direction of the compound. If that’s their destination, they’ll be there in approximately fifteen minutes.”
Leroux cursed and activated his headset. “Zero-One, Control. We have satellite imagery showing twelve troop carriers leaving Ouirgane Barracks and heading in your direction. ETA fifteen minutes, over.”
“Copy that, Control. I’m assuming we still don’t have any external support.”
“Confirmed. Recommend you abort the mission and evacuate immediately.”
“Copy that, Control, I’ll take it under advisement. Out.”
Leroux sighed heavily. “How did I know he’d say that?” He turned to the room. “They’re not going anywhere until they get the professors, so it’s our job to figure out how to get in that room.”
Child spun in his chair. “Why don’t they just knock?”
Leroux smiled. “That’s an excellent idea.”
Child stopped his spin. “It is?”
