Rose Elizabeth Fitzgerald, the year of her official debut to Boston society, 1911.

My debut was not lavish, at least by the standards of those times. It was a beautiful reception and tea at our home in Dorchester. Though it was the dead of winter, my parents had turned the house into a bower of roses for me. There were other flowers, too, as accents, and ferns and palms and garlands, but roses were the motif of the day.
