John D. Moore created a county map for the Museum of Western Colorado. Funds from the sale of the entire county map were used to purchase equipment for the museum’s Dinosaur Valley laboratory, located in Fruita. The museum operates several facilities throughout the Grand Valley of western Colorado. (Courtesy of the Loyd Files Research Library, Museum of Western Colorado.)

Carpenter was the pioneer promoter of the narrow-gauge railroad, but misfortune hounded his efforts, and fire consumed his mine.
