About the Author

Raised in New Jersey, on the typical American SAD diet, Melissa Costello became passionate about healthy food at a young age. Her battle with multiple childhood illnesses led her to learn more about how the food we put in our bodies has a direct correlation to how healthy we are.

After Melissa gave up eating red meat at the age of nineteen, her passion for cooking led her to experiment with healthier, plant-based foods. Finding ways to make these foods taste good was the beginning of her life-long journey into culinary nutrition. She eventually completed a Nutrition Certification at NHI in San Diego, as Melissa knew she wanted to bring this passion to others and teach them about the benefits of healthy eating.

As a self-taught chef who loved to throw dinner parties, many of Melissa’s friends told her she needed to cook for a living. Melissa started Karma Chow, her successful personal chef and coaching business in 2008. Her very first client was Tony Horton, the creator of the wildly popular home workout system, P90X. Melissa worked with Tony to help fuel his body with healthy, delicious foods so that he could thrive in his workouts and keep his energy sustained throughout his busy schedule.

Melissa continues to cook, teach, and lecture throughout the United States. She is continually finding innovative ways to bring her knowledge of healthy eating to the world. Her popular Vital Life 30-Day food-based cleanse has changed the lives of thousands across the country. Learn more at: www.karmachow.com
