Annie Downs’ Speak Love Revolution.

Dear friend,

I have an interesting invitation for you.

Want to join me in a revolution? No, we won’t use guns or sing Les Misérables songs over a barricade, but we are going to fight.

In the past few months, I have grown to appreciate the power God has given each of us with our words. Proverbs says that words have the power of life and death, and as I look back over my life, I’m seeing how true that has always been. (I know, I know. The fact that a Bible verse is true is nothing to stop the presses over since the whole Bible is true, but I wanted to state it anyway.)

So I want you to join me in a word revolution. I want us to be the generation of women who focus on bringing life, not death, with our words. Call me crazy, but what if we were the generation of women who ended the mean girl mentality? What if we changed the world like that? Can you imagine it?

I can. I can see a world where people pause before they speak because what used to be okay to say is no longer okay. And I can see girls filling each other with encouragement. I can see it. And, y’all, I want to be a part of that.

I want you to be a part of it too.

So here’s how this word revolution works. I’ve given you thirty days of short devotionals that you can read just before you head out the door or right before you fall asleep. For each day, I’ve included

• The topic for that day

• A verse from the Bible

• A few thoughts from me

• A prayer you can say to God as you digest that day’s devotion, expound on it in your journal, or whatever you want—it’s just a guiding tool

• A revolt—an action you can take that very day to be part of the word revolution

Several days encourage you to use your words to make a difference through social media outlets. If you don’t have any or all of those social media outlets, no biggie! Just do in real life what the day’s revolt says to do on the computer (encourage someone, say a Scripture verse out loud, etc.).

Also, I must tell you—I don’t dive fifty feet deep down into each topic. I just give some thoughts, some challenges, and some encouragement.1 Pop over to my Facebook page (Facebook.com/annieblogs) and let’s have a discussion there!

Thanks for joining me in this revolution. I can’t wait to hear how it goes for you. I’m praying for you today—that you would stand up for truth, that you would use your words to give life, and that you would see how God can use you and your words to change lives. And maybe the world.

Let’s revolt, y’all!

Sincerely,

(P.S.: We’re gonna memorize one short Scripture together. Hopefully, one of many for you. Keep reading … it’s next.)
