Bob Brown led the Australian Greens from the party’s foundation in 1992 until April 2012. From 2002 to 2004, when minor parties held the balance of power in the Senate, he became a well-recognised politician, often taking a courageous, and often politically lonely, stand on issues across the national and international spectrum. Bob stepped down as Leader of the Australian Greens, and then retired from the Senate in June 2012. He has published a number of books and has also won many awards, including from the United Nations.
