A Holiday in Forest Hills

(working title)

Avery Bennett, the privileged only female heir to the Bennett fortune, never expected a simple act of kindness to alter the course of her life. When she discovers a toddler in an abandoned car, she takes the child for medical care, setting in motion a series of events that will challenge her perception of privilege and lead her to an unexpected love.

Dr. Todd Stansfield, a widowed pediatrician still grappling with the loss of his wife in Hurricane Claudia, is dedicated to his daughter, Bree, and his medical practice. Avery, with her own stormy past, enters his life, bringing a whirlwind of change and a connection neither saw coming.

As Avery and Todd navigate the delicate dance of attraction, they must confront the traumas that haunt them. Avery, harboring a deep-seated secret, believes recovery is beyond reach. Yet, Todd, a healer in his own right, offers a unique kind of medicine that challenges her to believe in love's transformative power.

This season, change is inevitable for both. Despite their undeniable chemistry, fear lingers—afraid to fully embrace a love that could leave them heartbroken when circumstances force them apart.

Join Avery and Todd on a journey of healing and love. In the small town of Forest Hills, where privilege meets humility, will they find the courage to unwrap the gift of a second chance at happiness?

Here’s a little peek:

“It was a kiss, Avery. When was the last time you had one of those?”

“Why does it matter?”

Todd stepped toward her. “I’m curious, I guess. I’ve never met anyone so determined not to have passion.”

Avery took a few steps backward. The space between them was closing too rapidly. Her cheeks blushed, but she forced bravado into her chest and stepped away some more. “I’m leaving. I have a flight—”

Before she could say more, Todd caught her gently by the hand. A familiar heat traveled up her arm and into her chest. She raised her eyes to his and shook her head. She was desperate for him to let her go. She had to escape him.

Didn’t she?

“You’re not going anywhere.” Todd moved his hand to her chin. His eyes burned intensely, but they softened as he leaned in. His lips met hers in a tender, lingering kiss. Kissing him was simple and complex at the same time, which scared her because she loved that he didn’t ask or beg for her attention. He knew she wanted him. She liked that he knew. Confidence was sexy.

When Todd was done, he pulled her hand to his heart and said, “See, you have everything you need right here.”
