Day 6

Another day of work, but it’s definitely not an ordinary day of work. First of all, Detective Peter has finally returned from his vacation. I saw him when he first entered the Police Station.

“Hello, there. I’m back!” Peter said.

“Wonderful! Welcome back, Detective!” I said.

“Hey, Detective! Glad to see you!” He said.

“Welcome back, chief!” Officer Zimmer called out.

“You’re in good shape, Detective!” Officer Sal complimented him.

“Thanks, guys. How did you all hold up during the last month?” Peter wondered.

“It’s been great. Officer Kelly did a fantastic job,” Officer Zimmer said.

“She really did,” I said.

“Awesome! Where is she?” Peter asked.

“She went on vacation, a well-deserved one, of course,” I said. “Officer Kenneth also took some days off. The others will get their vacations in due time. Everyone deserves some rest, after all,” I said.

“Spending time with my family was great. Back to work now, what’s the news?” Peter asked me.

“Big meeting coming up on the seventh; you’re invited, of course.”

“What kind of meeting?” He wondered.

“Mayor Robert from Minerland is coming from the Overworld to meet my father. They will discuss the details of the Overworld-Nether partnership.”

“Really? That is fantastic, historic even,” Peter said.

“It’s going to be memorable. Anyway, you and I will be there. Johansson and Beatriz are coming with the Mayor, so it should be an interesting meeting.”

“That sounds wonderful; I can’t wait.” Peter said.

“Same here. In the meantime, the only thing we have to do until tomorrow is take good care of the city, as we have always done. Let’s keep the city safe and prepare everything for tomorrow.”

“Has the media been informed about the meeting tomorrow?” Peter asked.

“Yes. They’ve been standing right outside the Town Hall all day, waiting for an opportunity to interview my father. They want to know everything about the partnership.”

“That’s understandable.”

“So, for today, I want all Police Officers out there to enforce the law. Keep the city safe; make sure the citizens know we are here to protect everyone. We don’t want anything bad happening especially tomorrow with such important visitors.”

“Roger that!” The Officers said. They left the Station and went to patrol the streets.

“Do we have any big cases or pending investigations?” Peter inquired me.

“We have nothing of the sort. The last big case this Police Station saw was the case of the Triad Society. The case has been archived, the criminals are imprisoned, and there’s nothing more to it. Officer Kelly told me nothing big happened during our absence, which is great, of course,” I told him.

“That’s quite the relief. I know we were supposed to rest and take our minds off of the Police Station, but I was legitimately worried about the city.”

“No need to be. Everything went smoothly, and our Police Officers did a great job. How was it with your family?”

“It was great. I spent most of my time with them. We went on a camping trip to the South, where my aunt lives. We had a great time. What about you, Detective?”

“I had fun too. I spent two weeks with Johansson and Beatriz at the lab, saw them build the new Electricity Generator, and spent a few days at a beach in the Overworld. Oh, I also went to the Warped Forest.”

“What? Why would you go to that creepy place?”

“I wanted to face my fears. I had to see the forest with my own eyes again. I must say, it was a huge relief.”

“That’s great.”

“By the way, see that huge thing popping out of the Town Hall’s roof? It’s the Electricity Generator I just talked about. Johansson and Beatriz installed it a few days ago.”

“Wow! So they really managed to create an improved version of that old generator?” Peter wondered.

“They did. This one is much safer and better in every aspect,” I replied.

“That’s a huge relief. After what we went through in the Overworld, I’m glad to know the generator won’t be a problem anymore,” Peter said.

“Only my father has the passcode to the generator. No one can turn it off or even change the source fuel without his permission and the code.”

“Great, the new Generator is criminal proof.” Peter joked.

“Correct. Now, let’s go out to the streets and assist the Officers with their job. Crimson City must be safe before the big event.”

As soon as we stepped out of the station, a group of reporters popped out of nowhere.

“Detectives, since the Mayor refuses to talk about tomorrow’s meeting, we would like to hear from you. Please tell us what to expect from the visit of the human Mayor.”

“I don’t really know what to say. The meeting will be fantastic. It’s the opportunity for us to set our differences aside and create the perfect cooperative environment between the Overworld and the Nether. I can say that much for sure,” I said.

“Will it negatively impact the Nether somehow?” A reporter asked.

“Absolutely not. The partnership between both worlds is going to bring massive improvements for both sides. Trust me, the Overworld has a lot to teach us, and the opposite is also true,” Peter intervened.

“No more questions for now. I suggest you all be at the Town Hall tomorrow to learn more about this great partnership,” I said.

We left the reporters behind and carried on with our duties. The big day was coming, and we had no time to waste.
