Piglins can now visit the Overworld, and humans are free to come to the Nether as they please. We have been receiving new visitors from the Overworld as predicted.
I went to the Police Station, but I actually wanted to see the Nether border.
“Peter, hey, want to come with me to the border? Let’s oversee the entrance of new visitors for a while,” I invited him.
“Are you sure, Detective? I thought that was the job of the Immigration Agents,” Peter said.
“Not really. Their job is to ensure everything goes smoothly for those coming in and out of the portal, enforcing the rules regarding visitor limitations and other minor details. Ultimately, we are still responsible for dealing with any lawbreakers and problems regarding the law of the Nether. In a way, it’s our duty to make sure the visitors feel safe and welcome.”
“I see. Then let’s go for it,” Peter said.
We went to the Red Forest and ran into some humans who had just come through the portal.
“Oh, look, Police Officers of the Nether cities!” A human exclaimed to his friend.
“Actually, we are Detectives for Crimson City,” I corrected him. “But we’re here to protect you, regardless of our title.”
“Oh, I stand corrected; nice to meet you, Detectives.” The human said. “My name is Conrad, and this is Jeffrey. We’ve never entered the Nether before, so this is quite a thrilling experience for us.”
“Welcome to the Nether, and more specifically, welcome to Crimson City. If you keep walking down this pathway, you’ll get there in no time.”
“Any recommendations or suggestions for visitors?” Jeffrey asked me.
“Well, Pork Chop is the most popular dish in Crimson City. You should try it at one of our many restaurants. Plus, we’ve got many souvenir stores that are prepared for our other world visitors,” I joked.
“Sounds like fun. Thanks for the suggestions,” Conrad said. “We won’t bother you anymore; let’s be on our way.”
“You’re not bothering us at all. Enjoy your stay,” I said.
“Wow that was quite something. You’re always so polite, Detective,” Peter said.
“Come on, now. I was just giving those nice lads some suggestions. We should be nice to our tourists, after all,” I said.
At the Nether Portal, the Immigration Agents worked tirelessly to keep track of everyone coming or leaving the Nether. There was a long line of humans straight out of the Nether Portal.
“Warning: Human capacity is at 17 right now. Only the next 13 humans will be allowed to enter. The remaining visitors must go back to the Nether Portal,” An Immigration Agent announced.
The first 13 humans in line celebrated. The ones behind them went back to the portal with sad expressions.
“Detectives, welcome.” An Immigration Agent said.
“Hello, Agent.”
“I’m Agent Scott, and that is Agent Norma,” he said.
“Nice to meet you. I believe we didn’t have much time to talk yesterday due to the event,” I said.
“Indeed.”
“So, how’s your actual first day of work coming along?” Peter asked.
“Quite busy. Humans have been lining up since early in the morning. They really want to see the Nether with their own eyes, I suppose.” Agent Scott said.
“That’s great news. What’s the procedure like?”
“We ask for all personal information, the reason for the visit, and then we give them some instructions and a leaflet with all the important information regarding the Nether rules and laws. We also make them sign a waiver stating that they shall leave within 24 hours. Staying over 24 hours is against the law, and they might be punished if they do not abide by it.”
“What’s the punishment?” I asked.
“A fine of 50 Golden Nuggets, and they get temporarily banned from the Nether for 30 days. If they break the same law, the penalty doubles,” Scott said.
“Great. How’s everything so far? Any problems?”
“No, it’s been a peaceful day of work. They understand the rules, and they respect our authority.”
“How many Piglins left Crimson City to visit the Overworld?” Peter wondered.
“Not many, about five or six. Humans are more interested and invested in visiting the Nether than Piglins are about the Overworld,” Agent Scott said.
“They’ll get used to the idea of exploring the other side of this portal, just you wait and see,” I said.
“Exactly. The Overworld has so many interesting places to visit. It’s just a matter of time,” Peter agreed.
“Well Agent Scott, I shall leave you to your duty. Thank you very much. Remember, we’re always a phone call away in case anything happens,” I said.
“Of course, Detectives, thank you for stopping by. We will be in touch,” Agent Scott said, before continuing his duties. As there was nothing else for us to see, we returned to the Police Station to keep working. On our way back to the Station, we saw some humans walking around the city, stopping by the Main Square and taking pictures.
“You know, I never thought I would see that,” Peter said.
“Me either. It’s actually comforting to see them, isn’t it?”
“Yes. Everyone together, respecting each other - unlike what happened to Johansson, who was treated like a criminal when he first got here. Crimson City has evolved a lot in these past months - thanks to your hard work, Detective,” Peter said.
“Don’t underestimate yourself, Detective. You are also responsible for all this progress.”
“Perhaps, partially,” Peter replied. “I’m not the one who helped them destroy the Triad Bastion.”
“You helped me destroy the Triad Society, though. How about that?” I asked.
“Still, you’re the only one who was there in both cases. Have you thought about that?” Peter asked me.
“Now that you mentioned it, not really.”
“Exactly! That’s why I say, Detective, this city owes you a lot.”
“Nah, it doesn’t. I just did what was right for my own Piglins. The same goes for you, Peter. Now, I guess we should go back to the Station and keep an eye out for reports. We’ve got to make sure that everyone stays safe.”
“Roger that!”
Everything was going great and the relationship between humans and Piglins only improved by the day.
