Day 20

David Park was Crimson City’s newest sensation. Everyone wanted to see him in person or hear from him. Nevertheless, I knew David was in no conditions to speak to the press. He had to be brought back to the Overworld as fast as possible.

On our way through the Main Square, I decided to ask for help from the Police Officers at the Station which was merely a few meters from where we were.

“Guys, can you stand your ground right here? Please protect David and don’t let anyone interview him. Avoid talking to the press at all costs! I’ll go get the Officers to help us get through.” I said.

“Okay!” Johansson replied. Johansson, Beatriz, and Peter surrounded David. I made my way to the Station, ignoring the reporters on the way. I entered the Station and found Officers Tenpen and Zimmer working on their cases.

“Officers, I request your assistance,” I said.

“Detective, how did it go?” Zimmer asked.

“We found David Park. Now come, I need your help to escort him out of the city. The reporters and the Piglins are blocking our way.”

“Got it. Let’s go.” Tenpen said.

Tenpen and Zimmer came down with me to the Square. Once there, they helped us push through the crowd and escort David out of there.

“I have never seen so many Piglins in one place. Why are they so desperate to see him?” Officer Zimmer asked.

“David is a scientist. They want to know what he was doing in the Nether,” I replied. “Johansson please let me carry the machine, then stay in front and push the reporters away. You’re stronger than everyone here.”

“Okay, I can do that.” Johansson gave me the machine and took the lead ahead of everyone, pushing the reporters away and helping the two Police Officers.

“Back up, everyone, we just want to take David back to the Overworld. We will answer all your questions later,” Johansson said.

“Please, we want to know what the scientist was researching in the Nether!” A reporter shouted.

“We will answer everything later. For now, David’s safety is our main concern. Please step aside and let us through!” I replied.

However, the crowd simply wouldn’t give up. We slowly made our way through them, one step at a time. At one point, another reporter tried to grab David’s T-shirt to get his attention. I intervened and blocked the reporter’s hand, but I accidentally dropped the device on the ground in the process. Somehow, the device automatically turned on. David looked back at me and the device with a desperate look in his eyes.

“Turn it off!” David screamed at the top of his lungs, amidst the crowd of reporters and Piglins. “Turn it off now!”

“I… I’m sorry! I don’t know how to turn it off!” I picked the machine up from the ground and tried to deactivate it, but there were many buttons and levers. David leapt through the crowd, past Johansson and Beatriz, and came to my side.

“Here…” He turned off the machine.

“Relax, David. Everything is going to be fine,” I tried to reassure him, but David’s stare went blank again. For a moment, I thought he had lost his mind and slipped into a trance again.

“Oh, no I knew the crowd would get into his head. Guys, David has lost it again! We need to take him to safety, and quickly!” I told the others.

“What? Why would he snap like that right here?” Johansson approached us. “David, come back!” Johansson slapped David a couple of times, but he continued staring blankly into the sky. The reporters kept asking questions nonstop.

“What happened with the scientist? Why are you slapping him?” A reporter asked.

“Back up! David needs to rest!” Beatriz said.

“DDDDDragon…” David stammered, without taking his eyes out of the sky.

“What now?” I could barely hear him through the noisy crowd.

“DDDragon…” David stammered again. He pointed at the sky with his right hand. I looked up, and almost fainted when I saw the shadow of a red creature flying over the Main Square.

“Guys, Dragon!” I shouted. Johansson, Beatriz, and Peter looked up. The crowd was confused by what was going on.

“That… That can’t be… No… It cannot be!” Johansson muttered.

We saw a giant Dragon flying towards the Main Square. The creature flew over our heads and landed right atop the Police Station, letting out a deafening roar. The crowd was hysterical, running away in fear.

“Let’s get David out of here into the Town Hall! Now!” I shouted.

Johansson swept David up in his arms, and we ran into the Town Hall. The Dragon spat fire into the Square, burning the place up. We continued running and managed to enter the Town Hall safely. By now, the Main Square was empty. Every Piglin had left the area in a hurry. The Dragon continued roaring, perched over the Station.

Inside the Town Hall, we took time to recover.

“That’s simply unbelievable,” Peter mumbled. “Unbelievable, I say!”

“I know. I didn’t want to believe it either,” I said.

“What’s going on?” Officer Zimmer asked.

“I don’t know!” Officer Tenpen screamed. “A Dragon in Crimson City!”

“No, no. You guys don’t understand. That Dragon’s very existence is virtually impossible. I analyzed those Ancient Bones. I swear those bones are over 300 years old. It means the Dragon was last seen more than 300 years ago. How could that creature live to the age of 300?” Johansson was incredulous.

“Dad, I don’t know how or why, but I know for a fact that the Dragon is here,” Beatriz said, attending to David. “We can all complain about how unbelievable the Dragon’s existence is, but we need to focus on what’s real right now. So shall we look after David? He needs some urgent care.”

“Right, right. Sorry, darling. My mind was adrift with everything that just happened," Johansson said.

“David, are you alright? We’re right here, buddy. We are here to protect you.”

David was unresponsive.

“He’s passed out. I say we let him rest for a while. It’s been too much for him already,” Beatriz said.

“Good idea. Come, my father has a big couch inside his office. We can let David rest in there while we deal with the dragon,” I said.

“Okay.” Johansson carried David into my dad’s office.
