The Nether Dragon D’vart came to our rescue. It was our best chance to leave the Nether Farlands and go back to Crimson City.
“D’vart, I knew you would come,” I said. “Thanks for listening to me, even though I’m not worthy of your attention.”
D’vart looked at me and said: “You have proven your worth to me, little Piglin. You have shown courage and bravery through and through. I am now delighted to speak to you.”
“Thank you.”
The others left the portal and walked towards the Nether Dragon and me.
“D’vart! I can’t believe you’re here. What a relief.” Johansson said.
“So, how did it go?” D’vart asked us.
“We were on the verge of success, D’vart. We were this close. The Ender Dragon lost the battle. However, when we tried to take him back to the Overworld, the Endermen attacked.” Johansson said.
“The Endermen teleported us to the Overworld Farlands, we had to build ourselves a new Nether Portal to enter the Nether Farlands and call for your help,” Beatriz said.
“By the way, how did you hear me? I thought you would wait for us at the Soul Sand Valley.”
“Like I said, little Piglin just call my name, and I shall come,” D’vart replied.
“Sorry to barge in, but how did you cross the Nether and get here in a few minutes? I’m assuming the Nether Farlands are thousands of miles away from Crimson City and the other habitable biomes, yes?” Johansson wondered.
“You are right about that, human. The Nether Farlands are as the name implies far from all other biomes. Despite the distance, Nether Dragons can easily transverse the Nether by cutting through the lava oceans. We are immune to lava, and lava allows us to travel at ultimate speeds.”
“Incredible - a creature that can quickly travel all over the Nether through lava, I wish I had that ability.” Johansson said.
“Humans are already gifted enough as it is. There is no need for an extra skill,” D’vart said. “Now then, I suppose you need assistance to take the Ender Dragon from his lair since your plan did not work.”
“Precisely, Mr. Nether Dragon.” I said.
“Personally, I do not know what to do in this situation. Nevertheless, do not lose hope. I know of someone who might,” D’vart told us. “Now, climb on my back, and I shall take you four to the current leader of the Nether Dragons.”
“The current leader?” Peter said. “Oh, pardon me. I guess I’m the only one who’s not worthy yet.”
“You were there during the battle against the Ender Dragon, weren’t you? I can feel it in your heart. Any creature who has faced the Dragon and tried to take it down to help the Nether Dragons is a friend of ours. You are worthy so speak to your heart’s content,” D’vart said.
“Great.”
“Answering your question, yes, we have a ‘temporary leader,’ as you might call him. His name is Krop. Despite losing his Nether Dragon form many years ago, Krop has retained the knowledge required to guide us through these challenging times. However, I shall warn all of you: first of all never make fun of Krop for any reason whatsoever. Second, Krop despises humans more than anything else. He might be more inclined to talk to the two Piglins rather than the two humans. For that reason I ask you to be patient with him.”
“Sounds good to me, as long as he doesn’t try to eat us or spit fire at us, I don’t have a problem with that.” Johansson said.
“Krop is not exactly in a position to eat anyone right now. Do not worry; your lives are not in danger. Just be patient with him as we all went through a fair share of pain caused by the humans in ancient times.”
“Fair enough. We will respect him at all costs,” Beatriz replied.
“Good. Now hop on; we have no time to lose,” D’vart said.
We hopped on his back, and D’vart flew up in the Nether skies.
“Wow! This is terrifying but it’s also amazing!” I said.
“Hold tight. We’re about to enter the lava ocean,” D’vart replied.
“Hahahaha!” Johansson laughed. “For a moment I thought he said Lava Ocean. I think he said something else, right?”
The Nether Dragon flew up and then headed down towards the ocean of lava at full speed.
“No. I think he was telling the truth!” I shouted.
“No! I’m too young to die!” Peter screamed.
The Nether Dragon flew into the lava ocean, carrying all of us on his back. I could feel the boiling hot temperatures reaching up towards my body.
