Leave the cemetery and enter the village of Büyükanafarta (28) (40.28180,26.33015). The village, evacuated of civilians and heavily shelled and bombed during the war, had to be rebuilt after the hostilities. Today it has a population of around 400 people, whose main living is from livestock and agriculture. There is a small café in the square where a good Turkish coffee or tea can be consumed. Public toilets are also nearby, the only toilets in the area, so take note! Whilst in the village it is recommended that you visit the small, but very good, Gallipoli Campaign Museum, situated between the café and cemetery. This museum contains many exhibits found locally on the Anzac and Suvla battlefield, making an interesting end to the tour.
Return to Anzac along the beach road or, alternatively, continue on the road out of the village, which will take you around the Sari Bair ridge, past the village of Kocadere, to the main Anzac-Eceabat road.
