When you’re craving french fries, can turnips do the trick? While I can’t promise you’ll think they taste exactly like fast-food fries, they do provide a close-enough healthy alternative. Just eat a small serving size to keep carbs down.
Preheat the oven to 425°F. Oil a sheet pan.
Peel the turnips and slice into french fry–shaped pieces. Place the cut turnips into a large bowl. Coat with the olive oil. Sprinkle with the cumin, Cajun seasoning, salt, and garlic powder and toss to blend.
Spread the turnip fries evenly over the prepared sheet pan. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes.
Sprinkle the fries with additional salt to taste.
Notes
Regular or smoked paprika can be used in place of the Cajun seasoning. Stick to a small half-turnip-size serving, as the carbs can add up quickly if too many are eaten.
