Why make just one burger with a high-carb bun when you can make a filling casserole that makes enough for a crowd with hardly any carbs. No buns? No problem!
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Season the ground beef with the salt and black pepper. Add the beef to a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook, stirring and breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon, until browned. Drain any excess fat if needed. Then spread the beef over the bottom of a 9 × 13-inch casserole dish.
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, cream, three-quarters of the cheese, and the garlic salt. Pour over the beef. Top with the remaining cheese.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until the top is golden.
Notes
The measures can be cut in half and the casserole baked in an 8 × 8-inch pan for fewer servings.
For a bacon cheeseburger, add chopped cooked bacon to the beef.
For a mushroom burger, add sliced white button mushrooms to the beef.
Great served with ketchup, pickles, mustard, and other burger fixings.
