Child with an Orange
by
Vincent van Gogh

How about a short break from playing in the fresh air? You can sit down in a meadow, surrounded by fragrant flowers, much like the little girl in this picture. To satisfy your hunger, a fresh orange is just right. Did you know that oranges came to us from faraway China over 5oo years ago? If you look closely at the image you can see a lot of small brushstrokes next to each other, which makes this work of art so lively.

The Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh lived in the second half of the 19th century.
