MELODY BARLOW (Murfreesboro, Tennessee) was born in Memphis, Tennessee. Her paternal grandmother was MYRTLE TRULL, affectionately known as Mamaw to her grandchildren. Mamaw was born and raised in Humboldt, Tennessee, and lived in Jackson, Tennessee, until she passed away in 1979. Melody shares that “based on the delicious food she made, she certainly taught me that ‘from scratch’ cooking is the best!”
Cooking spray
1 large egg white
1 teaspoon cold water
1 pound large pecan halves
½ cup sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 Preheat the oven to 225 degrees. Lightly spray a cookie sheet.
2 In a large bowl beat the egg white and water until frothy. Add the pecans, tossing to coat well.
3 Mix the sugar, salt, and cinnamon in another large bowl. Fold the pecans into the sugar mixture until well coated.
4 Spread in a single layer on the cookie sheet. Bake for one hour, turning every 15 minutes. Cool before serving. Store in an airtight container.
