Chapter 2: Recipe for Smoothies

The Cherry Berry Blast Smoothie

Ingredients

•3 cups dark sweet frozen cherries (pitted, unsweetened)

•A cup frozen blueberries

A cup of lemon yogurt with no added fat

•A cup of vanilla soy milk with no added fat

•A couple of tablespoonfuls of lemon concentrate

Procedure

1.Add the cherries and blueberries to the blender with a little sugar.

2.The mixture should be blended until smooth.

3.To this blend, add a cup of vanilla soy milk.

4.Add rest of the ingredients to this blend

5.Blend this until the entire mixture is smooth and all the fruits are pureed.

The Orange Banana Smoothie

Ingredients

•A bowl of ice cubes

•A couple of cups of vanilla flavored soy milk

•A cup frozen orange juice concentrate

•A freshly sliced banana

•A small bowl of fresh vanilla flavored yogurt

•A few drops of honey

Procedure

1.Blend the ice cubes along with orange juice and vanilla flavored soy milk. Blend it until smooth.

2.Add the rest of the ingredients and puree.

3.The blend is best served cold and is extremely rich in vitamins.

The Blueberry Pineapple Smoothie

Ingredients

•A bowl of fresh blueberries

•A cup of freshly sliced pineapple

•A bowl of vanilla flavored soy milk

•A bowl of vanilla flavored yogurt

•A few drops of lemonade essence

•A few drops of honey

Procedure

1.Add freshly sliced pineapple and blueberries to the blender along with a few ice cubes

2.Add vanilla flavored soy milk to this mixture and blend a little.

3.Then add the rest of the ingredients to this puree and a few drops of honey.

5.Blend well until smooth.

6. The smoothie is best served cold.

The Strawberry & Cranberry Smoothie

Ingredients

•A couple of cups strawberries - (frozen - optional)

•A bowl of fresh cranberry juice

•Half a cup of freshly squeezed orange extract

•A small bowl of vanilla favored yogurt

•A few cherries/cut strawberries to garnish

Procedure

1.Place the strawberries at the bottom of the blender along with a few ice cubes

2.Add the orange extract and cranberry juice to the blender

3.Add the vanilla flavored yogurt along with a little milk.

4.Puree this mixture until smooth.

5.Serve the smoothie cold with a neat garnishing of strawberries/ cherries.

The Pineapple Orange Smoothie

Ingredients

•A small can of fresh orange juice

•Half a bowl of freshly sliced pineapple (frozen — optional)

•A cup of fresh vanilla yogurt or vanilla flavored soy milk

•A few drops of fresh honey

•A bowl of ice cubes

Preparation

1.Pour the can of fresh orange juice into the blender.

2.Add the bowl of ice cubes along with the orange extract.

3.Add the freshly sliced pineapple chunks to the mixture and puree it a little.

4.Add the yogurt/soy milk to this blend and switch the blender on again. 

5. Add the remaining ingredients and blend it again until the mixture is smooth and attains the texture of a milkshake.

6. Serve the smoothie cold with a slice of orange to garnish.

Banana Chocolate Smoothie

Ingredients

•A small cup of 7-8 ice cubes

•A big bowl of freshly sliced bananas

•3 cups of fresh vanilla flavored soy milk containing no fat.

•Half a bowl of low fat vanilla flavored vanilla yogurt.

•A tablespoonful of chocolate spread or cocoa powder.

Procedure

1.Add the ice cubes along with the freshly sliced bananas to the blender.

2.Blend for a minute until smooth.

3.Add the vanilla flavored soy milk and yogurt.

4.Add a tablespoonful of chocolate spread like nutella or some cocoa powder.

5.Blend this mixture until smooth and serve cold.

The Watermelon Maple Syrup Smoothie

Ingredients

•3 small bowls of finely sliced fresh seedless watermelon

•A bowl of milk

•A cup of fresh vanilla flavored yogurt

•A small cup of maple syrup

Freeze the watermelons for an hour.

Procedure

1.Place the watermelon slices in a plastic bag and freeze them in a freezer until blending.

2.Put the watermelon pieces inside the blender along with the cup of milk.

3.Add fresh vanilla flavored yogurt and maple syrup.

4.Blend this mixture until smooth.

5.Serve the smoothie cold with strawberry garnishing.

The Pineapple Banana Cooler Smoothie

Ingredients

•A bowl of finely sliced fresh bananas

•A cup of unsweetened pineapple slices

•5-6 ice cubes

•A glass of unsweetened pineapple concentrate

•A cup of banana flavored yogurt

•Cinnamon and an orange slice for garnishing

Preparation

1.Add the bananas and pineapple slices to the blender

2.Blend the two fruits for a minute

3.Empty the pineapple juice into this mixture along with a few ice cubes

4.Top this puree with the banana flavored yogurt

5.Blend the mixture again until smooth

6.Add cinnamon and strawberry slices for garnishing

7.Serve the smoothie cold

The Pineapple Coconut Fresh Smoothie

Ingredients

•A big bowl of finely sliced fresh pineapples

•Half a cup of freshly made milk of coconut—unsweetened

•Half a glass of pineapple extract

•Half a cup of unsweetened coconut shredding

•Half a bowl of fresh vanilla flavored yogurt

•Half a cup of honey

•Some pineapple or strawberry slices to garnish.

Procedure

1.Add the freshly slices pineapple slices along with unsweetened milk of coconut.

2.Add pineapple extract and the coconut shredding to this mixture. Blend it until smooth.

3. Add the vanilla flavored yogurt and a few drops of honey to this blend and puree it again until the right texture is attained.

4. Sprinkle pineapple slices or strawberry pieces to garnish and serve the smoothie cold.

Soy Banana and Peanut Butter Smoothie

Ingredients

•3 cups of fresh finely sliced bananas

•A cup of fresh peanut butter

•A glass of fresh unsweetened soy milk.

Instructions

1. Add the freshly sliced bananas to the blender along with a few ice cubes.

2.Top it with fresh peanut butter and unsweetened soy milk.

3. Switch on the blender and puree the mixture until smooth.

4.Serve the smoothie cold.

Vanilla and Egg Healthy Smoothie

Ingredients

•A large separated egg.

•A large glass of low-fat fresh unskimmed milk.

•3 teaspoonfuls of finely powdered white sugar

•3 spoons of fresh cream

•A small cup of vanilla essence

•Powdered and grated nutmeg for garnishing

Instructions

1.Add egg white, vanilla essence and finely powdered sugar to a bowl and whisk the mixture well.

2.Add this mixture to the milk and whisk again.

3.Add the egg yolk to the whisked mixture

4.Pour a little more vanilla essence into the bowl

5.Whip the fresh cream inside a separate cup and add it to this bowl.  

6.Add this to the blender and switch it on. Blend it until the mixture is smooth and attains a milkshake like texture.

7.Sprinkle the powdered nutmeg for garnishing

The Twisted Banana Smoothie

Ingredients

•A freshly chopped banana

•Six pitted prunes including garnish prunes

•A few drops of flax seed oil

•Half a cup of fresh orange extract

•A bowl of low at fresh yogurt

Instructions

1.Add the freshly sliced bananas, 5 pitted prunes and the orange extract to the blender and blend it for a minute until smooth.

2.Add a few drops of flax seed oil and blend the mixture again.

3.Place the prune on top of the serving glass for garnish.

Passion Fruit and Mango Nutty Smoothie

Ingredients

•A passion fruit - pulped and peeled

•3 freshly peeled, sliced and pitted mangoes

•A freshly sliced banana

•A bowl of fresh pineapple extract

•A couple of almonds

•4 shredded walnuts

•5 chopped cashewnuts

•Raisins for garnishing

Instructions

1. Add the passion fruit pieces and juice to the blender along with the sliced mangoes.

2.To this mixture add the banana slices and fresh pineapple juice.

3.Blend the mixture until smooth.

4. Add the walnuts, almonds and cashewnuts to the mixture and switch on the blender again for a minute.

5.Add raisins to garnish and serve the smoothie cold.

Pomegranate Black Currant & Blueberry Smoothie

Ingredients

•A bowl of fresh pomegranate seeds

•A cup of fresh black currant

•A cup of blueberries

•A bowl of fresh, natural yogurt

•A glass of organic milk

•A few tablespoons of powdered sugar

Instructions

1. Add the fresh pomegranate seeds to the blender along with a few ice cubes.

2. Add the black currant and blueberries to the mixture and blend it until smooth.

3. Top the mixture with fresh yogurt and a cup of organic milk.

4.Switch on the blender until the mixture attains the right texture.

5.Serve the smoothie cold.

Apricot Apple Smoothie

Ingredients

•A big bowl of fresh apricots

•Half a glass of fresh apple juice

•A bowl of orange flavored yogurt

•A few spoonfuls of honey

•6-7 ice cubes

•Mint leaves/ cinnamon for garnishing

Instructions

1. Put the apricots in the blender. Pour the apple juice along with a few ice cubes to the blender.

2. Blend this mixture for a minute.

3.Top it with orange flavored yogurt and fresh honey to this mixture and blend again until smooth.

3. Add mint leaves/cinnamon for garnish and serve the smoothie cold.

Mango Coconut Cooler Smoothie

Ingredients

•Half a peeled and pitted mango.

•Half a cup of unsweetened coconut milk

•6-7 ice cubes

•A bowl of seltzer

Instructions

1.Add the pitted mango slices to the blender along with unsweetened cocnut milk.

2. Blend this mixture until smooth and add a few ice cubes.

3. Top the smoothie off with seltzer.

Kiwi Melon Smoothie

Ingredients

•A freshly peeled and sliced kiwi

•A bowl deseeded white grapes

•A cup of freshly peeled and sliced honeydew melon

•A big bowl of peeled and chopped green apples

•A small bowl of fresh milk.

Instructions

1. Add slices of kiwi and honeydew melon to the blender along with a few white grapes.

2.Add slices of green apple to this mixture and blend it for a minute.

3.Pour the bowl of milk into the blender and switch it on again until the mixture becomes smooth.

4.Serve the smoothie cold.

Orange Buttermilk Cooler Smoothie

Ingredients

•A glass of fresh orange juice

•Half a glass of chilled buttermilk

•A spoonful of honey

•A cup of pineapple lemon sherbet

•Few ice cubes

•Raisins to garnish

1. Add the orange juice, buttermilk and the honey to the blender and switch it on until the mixture is smooth.

2. To this blend, add pineapple lemon sherbet and a few ice cubes.

3.Blend it again until the mixture attains the right texture.

4.Add raising for garnishing and serve the smoothie cold.

Choco Avocado Smoothie

  2. Add the avocado and banana slices to this mixture.
  3. Add few spoons of cocoa powder and a few spoons of agave nectar.

  5. Blend it until a pudding-like texture is achieved.
  6. Serve the smoothie cold.

Carrot Banana Smoothie
