Maya Schenwar is Truthout’s editor-in-chief. She is also the author of “Locked Down, Locked Out: Why Prison Doesn’t Work and How We Can Do Better.” Her work on the criminal legal system has been published on Truthout and in the New York Times, the Guardian, and the Nation, among others.

Joe Macaré is Truthout’s publisher. His interest in police repression began among the protesters, observers and bystanders “kettled” for seven hours by the London Metropolitan Police on May Day 2001. He has written for the Occupied Chicago Tribune, Red Wedge, In These Times, and various defunct British music publications.

Alana Yu-lan Price is Truthout’s content relations editor. She brings a deep commitment to racial justice, economic justice, and queer and trans liberation to her journalistic work. She previously served as managing editor of Tikkun magazine, which won two first-place awards from the Religion Newswriters Association under her leadership.
