Treat yourself to something sweet and spicy, no matter where you fall on Santa’s list.
MAKES 1 DRINK
Sweet & Spicy Sugar (page 26), for garnish
1 jalapeño, seeded and sliced
3 oz [90 ml] tequila
2 oz [60 ml] Triple Sec
1 oz [30 ml] fresh lime juice
Pour the Sweet & Spicy Sugar into a shallow bowl. Run a damp towel around the rim of an old fashioned glass. Dip it in the sugar mixture, making sure to completely cover the entire rim (see page 26 for more detailed instructions). Fill with ice and set aside.
Add 3 or 4 slices of jalapeño and the tequila to a shaker and muddle (30 seconds for mild, up to a minute for super hot). Add the Triple Sec, lime juice, and ice. Shake vigorously and strain into the prepared glass.
