Hot Mint Chocolate

This crowd-pleaser can be made as plain hot chocolate for the kids or with a little kick for the adults. Stir with a peppermint stick for best results.

MAKES 1 DRINK

1 oz [30 ml] peppermint schnapps

8 oz [240 ml] hot chocolate

Marshmallows, for garnish

Peppermint stick, for garnish (optional)

Pour the peppermint schnapps into a glass mug. Fill to the top with hot chocolate. Place the marshmallows on a metal skewer and toast over a stove burner on low heat until medium brown, or to your desired char. Float the toasted marshmallows on top of the drink or slip them onto a cocktail skewer and rest it across the glass. Garnish with a peppermint stick, if desired.

VARIATION: For the kid-friendly version, add 1 or 2 drops of mint extract to the hot chocolate instead of the schnapps, and sandwich a toasted marshmallow between two Peppermint Patties on a skewer.
