Hot Vanilla Cream

Looking for something cozy, like a pair of soft, fuzzy cashmere socks? If so, you’ll enjoy this exceedingly subtle, gentle drink, perfect for dipping Christmas cookies.

MAKES 1 DRINK

8 oz [240 ml] whole milk

3 Tbsp malted milk powder

11/2 tsp vanilla extract

Whipped Cream (page 25), for topping

Freshly grated nutmeg, for garnish

Ground cinnamon, for garnish

Heat the milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until very hot. Add the malted milk powder and vanilla, and whisk until slightly foamy. Pour into a mug and top with several dollops of whipped cream. Sprinkle with a little nutmeg and cinnamon, if desired.
