Questions 1–2
Please use the following passage to answer questions 1–2:
Police officers Leah Grossman and Jessica Dukes were patrolling the 72nd Precinct on foot at 5:35 p.m. on July 31, 2016. They came upon the scene of a hit-and-run accident at the corner of 1st Street and 6th Avenue, which occurred six minutes earlier. A Hispanic man, approximately 22 years old, 5 feet 7 inches, 156 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes, was lying unconscious in the street. He was wearing a blue T-shirt, black shorts, and white Nike sneakers. The man was bleeding from his forehead and it appeared that his left leg was broken. A witness named Mr. Chris Reese told Officer Dukes that a black Chevrolet Camaro came careening down 1st Street, hit the man who had been crossing the street, and sped off without stopping. Mr. Reese then called an ambulance on his cell phone. Mr. Reese did not take notice of the Camaro’s license plate number.
As the ambulance arrived to take the injured man, identified as Walter Guzman, to St. Peter’s Hospital on 8th Avenue, Officer Grossman interviewed another witness named Ms. Petra Brida. Ms. Brida did note the Camaro’s license plate number: MW5-P87. Officer Grossman traced the license to Mr. Lon Price, a 17-year old Caucasian male living at 67 12th Avenue. Upon arriving at the residence, Officer Grossman found Mr. Price’s mother. She explained that her son was not at home, but he did leave his driver’s license behind. Officer Grossman asked to examine the license, issued in the state of New Jersey with the identification number 291 796 783. The expiration date was August 1, 2020. The officer asked Mrs. Price how her son was dressed that day to help identify him, and she explained that her son was wearing a green T-shirt and white shorts.
Officers Grossman and Dukes took Mr. Price into custody at 6:12 p.m. They then filled out a crime report. The report number is 09373889357.

Police officers Diana Garrido and Andy Wong are dispatched to 7 Acme Avenue, Apt. 3, at 9:23 a.m, on June 16, 2017, in response to a domestic disturbance reported by a Mr. Dinsmore. They arrive at the apartment at 9:42 a.m., ring the third-floor buzzer, and are greeted by Ms. Jennifer Lilya. Ms. Lilya tells the officer that she’d returned from her overnight shift at the 7-11 convenience store at 9:30 a.m. Mr. Dennis Hayes then emerges from the bathroom and informs the officers that his wife, Ms. Lilya, had been home since 9:00 a.m. when she became agitated because he was still in bed and had yet to leave for his morning shift at the Central Blvd. Elementary School, where he works as a janitor. Mr. Hayes then claims that Ms. Lilya began screaming at him and threw a glass flower vase against their bedroom wall. Ms. Lilya then claims that her husband is lying and that she only arrived from work at 9:30 a.m.
While Officer Wong begins to fill out a crime report, Officer Garrido enters the bedroom with the consent of Mr. Hayes. On the bedroom carpet she finds a broken vase, scattered flowers, and a puddle of spilled water. Ms. Lilya then claims that she accidentally bumped into the vase upon returning home because she was tired from working all night.
The officers let Ms. Lilya off with a warning and let her know that they will have to take her to the station if they receive another similar complaint lodged against her in the future. The officers complete their investigation, exit the premises at 9:47 a.m., and fill out their report back at the station at 9:55 a.m.

Answer questions 6–8 solely on the basis of the following passage:
Police officers Elizabeth Nussbaum and Philip Ryan are dispatched to 55 East End Drive at 7:52 p.m., on February 1, 2017, in response to a burglary reported by a Mr. Nesmith. They arrive at the house at 8:02 p.m., ring the doorbell, and are greeted by Mr. David Nesmith. Mr. Nesmith tells the officers that he drove home from John F. Kennedy Airport at approximately 7:30 p.m. Mr. Nesmith states that he had just returned home from a week-long trip to Orlando, Florida. Upon entering his home, he immediately noticed that his television was missing. He then entered his bedroom to find his computer was missing. Mr. Nesmith then called the police at 7:52 p.m. While he waited for the police to arrive, Mr. Nesmith checked the bottom drawer of his armoire and discovered that a baseball card collection valued at $2,000 was also missing.
While Officer Nussbaum begins to fill out a crime report, Officer Ryan exits 55 East End Drive, and goes across the street to interview neighbors who may have information related to the burglary.
Mrs. Thorkelson, age 62, who lives at 56 East End Drive located directly across the street from Mr. Nesmith’s residence, tells Officer Nussbaum that she happened to be looking out of her window at approximately 10:00 p.m. on January 29, 2017, when she saw a man on the front lawn of 55 East End Drive. Believing the man to be Mr. Nesmith, she paid him no mind and had no additional details about him.
Officer Ryan then goes to 57 East End Drive and interviews the neighbor who lives there, Mr. Samuel Jones, age 48. Mr. Jones tells the officer that he too took notice of a man on Mr. Nesmith’s property on January 29. Mr. Jones describes the man as Caucasian, about 30 years old, 5 feet 4 inches, 130 lbs, with blond hair, and carrying what looked like a small bag. Officer Ryan then contacts other neighbors on East End Drive, but none report similar sightings of a man on the Nesmith property on January 29.
While Officer Ryan interviews neighbors, Office Nussbaum acquires additional information from Mr. Nesmith. Nesmith reveals that he kept his baseball card collection in a small bag. He also states that he is 42 years old. His telephone number at work is (212) 564-8679 and his work address is 655 Commercial Parkway.
