Call connected at 9:04.
‘Hello, Detective Inspector Juliet Stern.’
‘Hi. I’m returning a call. It’s Laura, Mr Dunlow’s personal assistant. Is now a good time?’
‘It is. I believe you have a key to the Dunlow Estate?’
‘I do.’
‘When did you last use it?’
‘Let me check the calendar. I needed some paperwork and Mr Dunlow was away, working with clients in London. Okay. Yeah. Must have been the 2nd of this month.’
‘And you have the key now?’
‘Um, let me check my purse. I keep it on me just in case Mr Dunlow needs me to get anything. Yes, it’s here.’
‘No one could have removed it between your last visit and now?’
‘I don’t think so. I keep my bag with me at work, and I live alone.’
‘Thank you, Laura. Could you tell me what you were doing on the night of the 9th?’
‘Oh, you need to know that? Well, I had dinner with a friend and after we went for drinks. I got home at about midnight. I can show you the receipt for the Uber?’
‘That would be helpful. My assistant will be in touch.’
‘I can give you the meal receipt as well.’
‘Sure. Thank you for your time, Laura. If you notice anything or want to tell me about something you see or hear, please use this number.’
‘Um, okay. Can I ask? Everyone here is talking about what happened. Mr Dunlow’s not in trouble, is he?’
‘We are following multiple lines of enquiry.’
‘Okay. It’s just, Mr Dunlow’s not a murderer. I know he’s not always the kindest boss and some people don’t like him, but he wouldn’t kill someone.’
‘Thank you, Laura. I’ll be in contact if we have any more questions.’
