FORM 22A – FORMAL REQUEST FOR WARRANT: PERMISSION TO SEARCH A PRIVATE RESIDENCE
REQUESTING OFFICERS:
Detective Inspector Juliet Stern and Detective Sergeant Gabriella Martin
CASE NUMBER:
10098755
CASE DESCRIPTION:
Murder of Melanie Pirt on the grounds of the Dunlow Estate in the New Forest on 9 October.
REQUESTED SEARCH AREA:
Manor house and all outbuildings on the Dunlow Estate, including groundskeeper’s cottage.
REASON FOR WARRANT REQUEST:
All residents of the Dunlow Estate (Karl Biss, Leonard Dunlow, Terence Dunlow and Timothy Dunlow) are currently without alibis for the period of time estimated for the murder of Melanie Pirt. After several rounds of questioning, there is a motive for each of them to have been directly or indirectly involved with the murder of Melanie Pirt. The murder weapon has not been recovered, nor has any clothing worn by the murderer. A preliminary search, permission given by Timothy Dunlow, of one of the outhouses on the Dunlow Estate uncovered a number of guns similar to the one used to kill Melanie Pirt. All the residents of the Dunlow Estate are high priority suspects in this murder investigation and we believe a search of the premises will uncover vital evidence.
