FULL FORENSIC ASSESSMENT

REPORT ON:

DNA SAMPLES taken from the body of MELANIE PIRT and her CLOTHING.

DNA SAMPLES were taken from MELANIE PIRT’S HAIR, MOUTH, HANDS, GENITALS and CLOTHES. Samples of BLOOD were also taken.

Using BLOOD SAMPLES, we are able to estimate the time of death as between 22:00 and 23:59 on 9 October. MELANIE’S BLOOD showed no alcohol or drugs in her system at the time of death.

We can confirm that the DOG shot on the Dunlow Estate was the same animal involved in the attack on MELANIE PIRT. SAMPLES OF BLOOD taken from its MOUTH were a positive match for MELANIE PIRT.

Many of the samples taken from MELANIE PIRT provided positive matches for DNA SAMPLES collected in conjunction with this case. The results are listed below:

HAIR sample: POSITIVE MATCH for LEONARD DUNLOW

MOUTH sample: POSITIVE MATCH for LEONARD DUNLOW

HAND sample: POSITIVE MATCH for LEONARD DUNLOW

GENITAL sample: POSTIVE MATCH for LEONARD DUNLOW

MELANIE PIRT had unprotected sex 1 to 2 hours before her death. There was no sign of undue force.

MELANIE PIRT’S CLOTHES were a POSITIVE MATCH for LEONARD DUNLOW. There were small amounts of material that provided positive matches for TERENCE DUNLOW, JORDAN HAINES, KARL BISS and TIMOTHY DUNLOW (in order from most to least). These were small enough to be incidental and may not have been picked up via direct contact.
