Subject: Operation Chalice – Initial report on the hunting rifle
Stern and Martin,
Before sending the firearm retrieved this morning off to the National Forensics Firearms lab, I had a quick look.
An initial dusting revealed fingerprints matching KARL BISS, TIMOTHY DUNLOW and TERENCE DUNLOW (listed in order from most to least).
There is some white dust around the trigger, which I believe will be a match for the latex residue found in the leather gloves.
Gunshot residue around the nozzle of the gun suggests it was fired recently, although this will be skewed by the discharge this morning.
In my opinion, as the casings are a match, this could be the weapon used to shoot MELANIE PIRT.
Please bear in mind that these are initial thoughts, and you’ll need to wait for a full report for anything more conclusive.
