Grey-blue and olive-grey versions of the Tropenhelm, Tropenrock, lang & kurz Tropenhose, Tropen-Schnürschuhe and Tropen-Schnürstiefel (though apparently not the Tropenfliegermütze or Überfallhose) were produced for service in hot but non-desert climates, and were common in the southern Russian and Italian theatres. Photographed near Stalingrad in summer 1942, this Feldwebel from JG 77 wears the grey-blue version of the Tropenrock.
