I COULDN’T FIND AELLA, so I headed outside, only to hear Keegan and Ryane as they argued around the side of the building. He was finally being honest. It didn’t take long before their shouts became her moans. Seemed they worked it out, maybe not in the long term, but at least for the night. I put distance between me and the reunited couple, finding myself alone, staring at a pond and its light show. I heard some soft laughter and footsteps followed by a muffled thud. Turing my head I saw someone lying on the concrete with a bottle beside them. I laughed and shook my head. “Looks like you had one too many buddy.”
“I’m not your buddy.” The words were slurred but unmistakably Aella’s. She was smashed and apparently unable to walk any further.
“What are you doing out here?” I stood up and stumbled over to her. All those Double Vodkas had done their job, as had the beers people kept handing me. I knew I shouldn’t have mixed them, but it happened, nothing I could do about it now.
“Help me up?” She lifted her hand and let it fall just as lazy as I felt.
“Actually, I think I’m going to sit just a moment.” I settled on the ground next to her with a snicker, laying back to look up at the spinning stars. “You ran off on me.”
“Yup.”
“Why?”
“You wanted too much.”
“What? I don’t want anything from you. Except maybe that bottle.” I took it from her half opened hand, sitting up enough to take a sip. “Hmm, blackberry brandy. Tart choice.”
“It was what was left.” She hiccupped. “Excuse me.” A giggle ensued as she turned over to her side to better see me. “You wanted plenty, Mister Siegfried.”
“Please call me Sig.”
“I’ll do no such thing. Your name is Siegfried. It’s a good strong name. Translates from the German to mean victory and protection or peace. You are the Victorious Protector...” She let out a single hard laugh. “That says a lot.”
“Does it? And what about you? Aella? What does that mean?”
“Oh? I’m a whirlwind.”
Instantly she was on top of me, her knees on my arms, pinning me to the ground. She beamed, lowering herself down onto me, her hair brushing my face.
“I won’t argue there.” I smiled up at her, wiggling my fingers against her knees. I could break the hold, but I was curious how far she’d take this little tease.
Her nails bit into my chest, and I let out a pained moan, she leaned down, her heavy breasts pressing against me as she slid her knees from my hands. As soon as I was free I grabbed her by the ass, sat up and flipped her backward, my lips connecting with hers. She hesitated a moment before parting her lips slightly. The kiss was unsure, but soft, and tasted of almonds. I sought to open her more and she wrapped her arms around my neck, her thighs clenched against my hips. I had been thinking about this for months and was instantly hard as a rock and unable to hide it. She jerked back with a look of surprise when I pressed against her. Her legs dropped from around me and just as she made to speak, she rolled over and vomited.
I backed off of her, pulling her hair back as she tried to lift herself up.
“Okay, not the reaction I’m used to after a kiss.” I laughed gently, running my hand down her back gingerly, my fingers tingled, feeling the gold rings embedded there. No Dragon would willingly use gold, it burned too much. I realized as she expelled the contents of her stomach in little coughs that, contrary to what she would have me believe, this was not her idea.
“I’m sorry,” she muttered. Holding her stomach, she let me help her to her feet, but as soon as I had her upright she fell back down. Those heels were not doing her any favors. I scooped her up into my arms, and she fell against my chest.
She was far drunker than I had anticipated, and I was instantly sorry for almost taking advantage.
“This was not how I wanted my first kiss.” I almost missed her words as they were muffled by my shirt.
Her first kiss? I understood now, her feelings of fear, and the unsure way she had kissed me. I stroked her head, she had been through so very much in such a short time. She was just a baby Dragon, someone was trying to keep her under their control and she was afraid of telling who. This was something I understood, all too well. My phone beeped and I maneuvered her to check it, it was a text from Keegan telling me he was going home with Ryane. Good, at least then I wouldn’t have to explain the now passed out girl in my arms.
