Chapter 49 Ryane

“SOMEONE’S IN AN AWFULLY chipper mood this morning,” I cracked, hanging over the back of my couch, trying to see what Sig was texting. His fingers flew across the phone screen and a large smile took up most of his face. “Who are you talking to?” I reached for the phone playfully and he hopped forward to keep it from me.

“It’s nothing,” he insisted, holding the phone up out of my tiny frames reach.

“Nothing eh?” Keegan quipped, snatching the phone. “Let’s see this nothing.” He turned from Sig as he tried to get it back.”

“Hey, C’mon don’t I get any privacy?” He grabbed Keegan by the middle, grabbing for the phone.

“Oh? I see what’s got you smiling like an idiot... “Last night was hot as Hell, can’t wait to see you... It’s from Aella...” Keegan laughed. “What should his response be I wonder?”

“Keegan, don’t you dare!” Smoke was pluming from his mouth as they battled over the little electronic device.

“Keegan, give it back to him!” I insisted, chuckling. The two of them could be so juvenile at times.

“It was hot, but nothing’s hotter than your ass in those tight jeans, or better yet, your huge rack in my hands...”

“Fuck man, don’t-“ Sig punched Keegan in the ribs and Keegan let the phone drop. It bounced off the floor and onto the rug. They scrambled for it, but Sig got to it first, kicking Keegan in the shin. “Please tell me that didn’t send!” He pulled up the text messages and sighed with relief as Keegan laughed hysterically.

“I’d never actually send something like that, man I had you going.”

“What you had was almost a concussion.”

“What did he write?” I asked, covering my laugh with my hand.

“Just I miss you.”

“Aww, that’s adorable.”

“That’s Sig.” Keegan rubbed his leg and his side. “So you got it bad, obviously.”

Sig half smiled. “I don’t know what I got, but I’m liking it so far.”

“Are you guys dating now?” I asked, pouring some coffee. I didn’t know her, but I knew the company she kept, so I wasn’t sure what I thought.

“I- Let’s say we’re exploring.”

Exploring? Okay...”

“I invited her to come with us to New York. I hope that’s okay, Boss.” He turned to Keegan, who was still on the floor.

“The more the merrier.”

“Is Gage coming?” I asked, thinking that I hadn’t really seen much of him the last day or so. Not since that spectacle I had made of myself at Alabaster Hall.

“He’s on lock down, full moon,” Keegan offered as I handed him his coffee.

I nodded, looking over at Sig who was back to smiling like a damned fool. Keegan chuckled as I grinned. I think he was as happy as I was to see such a happy Dragon.

“I think this is gonna be good for him.” I leaned against Keegan and he wrapped his arm around me.

“Yup, just so long as he does as he’s told to.”

“Huh?”

He kissed the top of my head. “Later. Okay?”

“Hey, listen, are you two good for a couple hours?” Sig chirped, sliding his phone into his pocket and grabbing his truck keys.

“Sure. What’s up?” I asked with a curious brow raise.

“I- Well, I was gonna go see Aella on her break, actually.”

“Over at that little shop that makes the good coffee? Can we come?”

“I-guess, it’s just...“ he stopped, running his hands through his hair.

Please?” I begged, trotting over to him, my hands in mock prayer with a dip of my knees.

He laughed. “Okay, fine. Just make sure he behaves or I will set him on fire.”

“Sig, now why would you think I would do anything to embarrass you? It’s not like you two didn’t cost me a grand in seat repairs or anything like that.”

“Shush. Now, the both of you,” I commanded and they dropped their heads like the good little boys they could occasionally be. “That’s better, now I’m going to go get dressed and then we can go. Understood?”

“Yes” they answered me together in pouty little voices. I swear they could communicate via telepathy and planned these things.
