After returning from a visit to China, I searched for a coffee shop that could make the incredibly smooth and light tea drink that had become a favorite of mine during the trip. It didn’t take long to realize that I needed to re-create it myself if I wanted to experience it in the States. I worked to keep the flavor but lower the sugar by eliminating the usual condensed milk and replacing it with whole milk and my own measurement of sugar.
2 cups strong brewed coffee
6 tablespoons pure cane sugar
1 cup strong brewed green tea, chilled
1 ½ cups whole milk
Combine the coffee and sugar in a 4-cup measuring cup. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. Combine the sweetened coffee, green tea, and milk in a blender jar and process until combined. Serve chilled.
Makes 4 servings.
