NOTE

1  Marc Jeannerod passed away on 1 July 2011, a few days before the manuscript of this book was sent to Psychology Press. He was an extremely creative and internationally recognized cognitive neuroscientist. He contributed many new ideas to our understanding of the interactions between vision and action, visually guided actions, motor imagery, motor simulation and the self. In particular, he strongly argued for a picture of human motor cognition according to which we mentally represent many actions that, for some reason or another, we never execute. More recently, he turned his attention to the relation between language and action. He was a great support during the preparation of the manuscript. All the contributors to this book wish to express their deep sorrow and to dedicate the book to him.
