The Stone House was built in 1848 at the intersection of the historic Warrenton Turnpike and Manassas–Sudley Road and served as a makeshift hospital during the Battle of First Manassas. One visitor’s account described the wood floor as crowded with wounded men “dreadfully mangled by cannon shot” and “their clotted wounds still undressed.” Today, the busy intersection is where Virginia State Route 234 and US Route 29 meet.
