{ TINY SANDWICHES }

Small packages often contain valuable things.

—FROM THE COLLECTION OF THINGS I SAY WHEN PEOPLE COMMENT ON MY HEIGHT

Unlike when you are an adolescent, in your adultolescence, it is no longer cute to constantly comment on the things you hate about yourself. Frankly, everyone has insecurities. And for the most part they surround issues that are completely outside of our control. For me, one of my main self-qualms is that I’m not the tallest person. But I’m also not by any means the shortest person either. However, for some unfortunate reason I often seem to find myself in the company of rather tall people. Women who average five-ten and men who average six feet. And in my mind’s eye I like to see myself as the height and width of a friendly lumberjack.

I’m not, but good things come in small packages and can bring you lots of tasty comfort. Just like having a tiny sandwich.

   Cocktail

In keeping with the theme, I recommend drinking an Underberg, because they are adorable.

   Ingredients

       *  2 slices of bread (pick your favorite)

       *  inside parts (again, up to you, what we have pictured here is PB&J)

   Instructions

Make yourself a sandwich of your choosing, but instead of just eating it right away, cut the sandwich into both horizontal and vertical thirds, creating a grid. Then pull apart and serve as fancy, ironic hors d’oeuvres.

Your body-conscious friends will delight at this seemingly low-carb treat that reminds them how much they miss sandwiches. And you will be happy to know that size doesn’t matter. And in fact, by giving them just a taste, you may leave them wanting even more.

Life Lesson

Say nice things to yourself about your sandwich soul.
