ASPIRATION #4
Seizing the Moment
By now you are well on your way to achieving your career aspiration. You have narrowed your focus, built you career road map, and are well on your career journey. Your desired ambitions may be met by now. Challenge yourself to achieve your best and build a legacy you can be proud of. Put yourself at the end of your career and ask yourself, did I have a career and a life well lived?
Defining a successful career is more than having a strong and clear career aspiration. As you suspect, it is much more difficult than that. Define your life and career goals clearly and assess your progress routinely. As mentioned earlier, a successful career can support your life and help fulfill your life goals. Work to live, not live to work.
Be bold and seek opportunities to advance your career. You deserve every opportunity that may be presented to you. Cement your personal and professional brand and develop your own leadership style. Your colleagues are important, so support those who support you.
Your career journey
has been hard work, so
honor yourself by achieving
all your career and life aspirations.
It is natural for you to ask yourself if this is what I want to do to the end of my career. Your view of your career may be changing. On the other hand, you may be fully satisfied with the people you work with and the benefits you’re bringing to the community and your family.
Either way, you want to ask yourself, “What else can I achieve or do that will help others?” This may be volunteering, running for a public office, or coaching your favorite sport. You could argue these are not career aspirations, but they could lead to more satisfaction at work or at home.
