Afterword
The workplace is continuously changing, and you are in the middle, looking ahead and crafting your career. It is an exciting time to think about how we will work in the future. Current trends would lead us to believe that remote officing, virtual teams and flexible assignments will continue to lead the way to a new workplace.
The employment models of today will need to change to attract and retain future employees. In the past, companies could create an alliance with an employee by offering security and a range of benefits for the employee and their family.
Gradually, companies have been changing their “psychological contracts” with their employees toward providing a job within the context of their short-term business objectives. Long term employment security is a way of the past, and the employee can’t rely on securing a job for a lifetime.
That makes career development and planning all the more important.
