The Inimitable Jeeves, P. G. Wodehouse, 1923
2 parts brandy
1 part club soda
Fill a Collins glass with ice.
Add the ingredients, gently stir until chilled, and enjoy.
“I say, Jeeves,” I said.
“Sir?”
“Mix me a stiffish brandy and soda.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Stiffish, Jeeves. Not too much soda, but splash the brandy about a bit.”
“Very good, sir.”
After imbibing, I felt a shade better.
Bertie always finds that a good, stiff drink eases the discomfort of whatever absurd situation he’s gotten himself into, and thankfully, Jeeves is (usually) on hand to handle everything else. Like the Whiskey & Soda, this concoction is very simple, and you can choose how much of each portion you wish to put in your drink. Bertie clearly prefers a more generous dash of brandy, but that’s up to you.
