Salman Rushdie
1 oz. vodka
4 oz. tonic water
1 lemon or lime wedge, for garnish
Fill a highball glass with ice, add the vodka and tonic, and stir until chilled.
Garnish with the lemon or lime wedge and enjoy.
Rushdie is an author who is no stranger to controversy, from having to go into hiding after death threats for his 1988 novel, The Satanic Verses, to his recent woes from being attacked and seriously injured by an extremist. Through it all, he has maintained a good attitude and a commitment to his highly innovative work.
In various interviews he has spoken of his liking for a simple drink, the Vodka Tonic. Served in a highball glass, it’s a combination of vodka and tonic water in whatever proportions you prefer, and you can also add ice and a wedge of lemon or lime to complete the flavor profile.
