Next day I woke up at dawn, I was feeling nervous and I couldn’t wait to meet Ayleen. What was she lie? I wondered, and how old was she?
Noah had to tell me out past. Every time I asked something about us, like where we met or where was out first kiss, things I thought were important, he was evasive or would change the subject. What was he hiding? I promised myself to find out.
The door opened and there he was again, my Greek god in real life. There was something about him, something strange, like a magnet that inexplicably would attract me to him. My heart leaped when he looked at me, he was wearing tight jeans and a white cotton shirt. His hair looked damp so I figured he had just taken a shower. How would sharing a shower with him be....I shook my head to forget those images. I blushed embarrassed. He came closer with a mischievous look and asked curiously:
“What were you thinking just now?”
I looked away quickly and I realized he had a bag with clothes in his hand.
“Hmm...nothing, is that for me?” I asked pointing at the bag trying to change the subject.
“Yeah, I hope I got what you needed from your closet.”
He handed me the bag, I took it and grabbed a pair of jeans and a short sleeved blue blouse. This looked more like my stuff unlike the nightgown.
“Finally something that seems more familiar, not like this” I said pointing at the nightgown.
“It´s normal that you don´t recognize it, it´s new. You never use anything like that to sleep.”
I looked at him in surprise and disbelief.
“I don´t believe you.” I said shakily.
“Really? Do I have to tell you how we slept naked and cuddling every night? Or how you would fall asleep in my arms, exhausted from passion all night long?”
“You´re not going to earn my trust that way.” I whispered.
He ran his hand down my chin making me look at him in the eyes. His eyes were gentle, he got dangerously closer and murmured:
“I´m just telling you the truth love. If you listen to your heart, you´d know. I have something for you.”
From his pocket, he got a velvet cloth, he opened it and there it was; the wedding ring from my dream. My pulse increased rapidly when he took my hand and slid it down my finger gently, it fit perfectly.
“Please, I´m begging you not to take it off ever again.” He asked with a painful look in his eyes.
I had the urge to hug him; it was painful to see him like this. I raised my hand to touch his cheek gently.
“I promise.” I told him looking at his gorgeous green eyes.
I couldn’t resist and got closer to him to give him a small kiss, I never thought one kiss would make me lose my mind that way. He responded without thinking putting both hands in my face and pressing me against him, I felt goosebumps all over my body with pleasure.
“Alison...we have to go.” He whispered, making us come back to reality. I nodded and got out of bed taking the bag of clothes and went straight to the bathroom.
I took a quick shower and got dressed; I looked at myself at the mirror and was surprised to see my cheeks with a slight pink color, my eyes had a new spark in them. I put my hair up in a ponytail, put lip gloss on my lips and I was ready to go with my so called husband to Bahamas, where he told me we lived. It seemed weird that we lived to far away.
“Are you ready?” He called from the other side of the door.
“Yeah, I´ll be out in a second.” I answered and got out.
I encountered him and he gave me a grin that took my breath away.
We got out of the hospital, he put his arm around me and I felt strangely protected. We got to the parking lot and he stopped at a black BMW, he opened the door for me and I sat on the leather seat. I looked at the interior of the car carefully hoping that a memory would come back.
“Have I been in this car before?” I asked curiously.
“Yes, a lot of times.” He answered politely. “Buckle up please.” He asked and I did it without hesitation and looked back at him.
“Was I...was I wearing a seat belt when...I had the accident?” I asked in a shaky voice.
“Yes, from what the paramedics from the ambulance told me, that´s the reason you´re alive.” He said seriously.
He started driving and headed to the traffic.
“Was I driving?”
“You were alone when they found you, yeah,” he responded patiently. “Why so many questions all of the sudden? You had no interest at the hospital.”
This time he gave me a curious look.
“I guess I didn´t want to know.” I answered back. I looked at the highway and kept asking. “Tell me what happened, tell me, now I want to know.”
“It was raining that night, the roads were slippery and you took a curve really fast.”
I looked at him anxiously.
“Did I hit somebody?” I asked nervously.
“No, you were the only victim.”
I relaxed for one moment, I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself if somebody was hurt because of me.
“And where were you?” I asked.
“At the hotel we were staying at, we came to finalize the papers to move to Bahamas, your mother was babysitting.”
“Why an island?”
“We wanted something different and passionate nights.” He said playfully, I didn´t mind, he said those things to embarrass me.
“And who is Dan?”
He froze and stopped the car, he pulled over, turned to me and replied:
“That answer is locked somewhere in your memory, and believe me when I tell you that I´m dying to know, just like you, to know the answer. Now please, try to relax, the trip is a bit long.
He looked furious and nervous at the same time. He started driving again.
I stayed quiet and frustrated. How was I going to get my memory back if he wasn’t patient with me? I leaned against the car window and closed my eyes, exhausted from a sleepless night. All of the sudden it seemed it was night time, everything went dark, I opened my eyes and I was surprised to see that I was in the driver´s seat and in front of me a highway, the windshields were working perfectly, fighting over the heavy rain. I panicked, someone was screaming beside me, I looked but couldn’t see who it was, it was so dark. I heard myself screaming that person who was really upset, but I didn’t understand what I said. I looked straight ahead and I jumped when I saw dark emptiness and I screamed horrified.
“Watch out...!!!”
