A person overcome with thirst for different things becomes depressed when he does not obtain wealth. Considering this carefully, and understanding the way things really are, I am pure and follow this vow of Aja·gara.
I have seen that all kinds of wretches approach honorable and dishonorable men to obtain money, and so have lost my appetite for things. Being self-controlled, peaceful and pure, I follow this vow of Aja·gara.

All is determined by fate: pleasure and pain, gain and loss, joy and misery, life and death. Contemplating this as it really is, and being pure, I follow this vow of Aja·gara.
I am devoid of fear, passion, delusion and pride, but am peaceful, being endowed with resolve, wisdom and intelligence. Observing that snakes eat only what comes by,* and being pure, I follow this vow of Aja·gara.
I am of the habit of taking no fixed lodging, being endowed with restraint, control, religious vows, truth and purity. Delighting in the fact that I have no hoard of fruit, and being pure, I follow this vow of Aja·gara.
Endowed with intelligence, I have contemplated that the cause of my pain has vanished through my own exertion. Being pure, I follow this vow of Aja·gara in order to control the thirsty and uncontrolled mind that rests in the body.
Curbing my heart, speech and mind, I perceive that joy and pleasure are difficult to attain and transitory to boot; being pure, I follow this vow of Aja·gara.
