The blessed Aryaman* and his sons, Mighty King, have been described as the instructors and masters of creatures.
Shasha·bindu* had ten thousand wives, unshakable one, and then each one of them had a thousand sons. Thus the numinous Shasha·bindu had ten million sons, not one of whom wished there to be any other patriarch. The brahmins of old handed down their knowledge of the offspring of Shasha·bindu, for this patriarch’s great lineage was the source of the Vrishni lineage.
I have listed the celebrated progenitors of all creatures; now I will outline the gods who rule over the triple world.

These are said to be Bhaga, Ansha, Aryaman, Mitra, Varuna, Savitri, Dhatri, the powerful Vivasvat, Tvashtri, Pushan, Indra and finally Vishnu, the twelfth. These are the twelve Adityas, who are the offspring of Kashyapa. It is thought that Nasatya and Dasra—the two Ashvins—are the sons of the illustrious Martanda, the eighth in the above list.*
Thus the progenitors are believed to be twofold: these divinities and the gods mentioned earlier.
There is also Vishva·rupa—the effulgent, glorious one—who was the son of Tvashtri, as well as the following group:

Ajaikapad, Ahir·budhnya, Virupaksha, Raivata, Hara, Bahu·rupa, Tryambaka, Sureshvara, Savitra, Jayanta, Pinakin and Aparajita. I have already proclaimed the illustrious eight Vasus.*
Such are the gods who descended from Manu the lord of creatures. Thus the progenitors are believed to be twofold: these divinities and the gods mentioned earlier.
