Day Nineteen

FOCUS

I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward… I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back…I focus on this one thing: forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead…I keep focused on that goal. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you’ll see it yet! Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it (Philippians 3:12-16).

The number one thing that keeps people from realizing their goals, maximizing their potential, and fulfilling their purpose is focus. Wherever you place your focus - your mind, talents, abilities, and emotions will follow.

In other words, the life and reality you are experiencing are a reflection of the thoughts you are thinking. This is why you are told in Psalms to “guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life” (Prov. 4:23 NLT). Ultimately, the power of our thoughts translates into our ability to focus. It’s focused thought that wields the greatest power.

If you do not want to see something in your future, do not focus on it today. Train your mind to focus on the positive, and you will always have positive outcomes.

Our thoughts create our reality—where we put our focus is the direction we tend to go. —Peter McWilliams

ACTION STEPS

imageWhat is God calling you to do? Focus on your calling, not your circumstances.
imageWhat is it you want more of? If you want more of God and His power working in your life, focus on God and His power!
imageFocus on what you want, not what you don’t want! Do not allow anything or anyone to alter your focus.

Keep your eyes straight ahead; ignore all sideshow distractions. Watch your step, and the road will stretch out smooth before you. Look neither right nor left; leave evil in the dust (Proverbs 4:25-27).
