It’s quite simple…be compassionate and loyal in your love, and don’t take yourself too seriously (Micah 6:8).
In the last few days, we’ve talked about responsibility, potential, and impeccability. Today, I want to talk to you about compassion—because without this characteristic, you will have a difficult time fully walking in any of the other characteristics of an authentic person. American author, Frederick Buechner said, “Compassion is sometimes the fatal capacity for feeling what it is like to live inside somebody else’s skin. It is the knowledge that there can never really be any peace and joy for me until there is peace and joy finally for you too.”
I encourage you today to check your compassion meter. Open your heart and mind to those in need around you and explore how you might respond to those needs. Speak a blessing into the lives of everyone you encounter.
What better way is there to share the love of God than to bless others with your words? That is how you shine light into dark places!
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest accomplishment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. —Leo Buscaglia
ACTION STEPS
![]() | Think of someone you normally don’t have patience for, and speak a blessing over him or her now. |
![]() | The next time you come across a person less fortunate, stop and bless them with your words. You might not have the money or time to invest, but you always have a kind word—and there is no better investment than that. |
So be merciful (sympathetic, tender, responsive, and compassionate) even as your Father is (Luke 6:36 AMP).
