Rozane/Rozane Royal
Designed to compete with similar lines by Weller and Rookwood, Rozane (which combined the names Roseville and Zanesville) was introduced shortly after the turn of the 19th century, and the artists who created these pieces were left to their own stylistic devices. Many pieces have floral motifs, others featured portraits, some hunting dogs, still others had harvest themes or birds. Though most backgrounds are a glossy black-brown, others are called Royal Light and have ivory or pastel tones. Pieces are often artist signed or stamped “Rozane RPCo. ″ or “Rozane Royal Ware″ on a wafer/seal.
