My name is Mark. I have a son, Meyer, who, as I write this book, is turning 10 years old. He’s grown up with our own dog, a komondor named Clyde, but he's also been around lots and lots of other dogs and puppies—because I run the Zoom Room.
The Zoom Room is an indoor dog gym. We have trained more than 150,000 puppies and dogs. Well, that’s not exactly right. You see, our motto is: We don’t train dogs. We train the people who love them
. What’s so rewarding about what we do is that we focus on educating kids and grown-ups to really understand their pets. We teach people how to be amazing trainers.
That’s important, because we don’t follow you home or out on your adventures. You
are the one who is going to be spending all that time with your puppy, so we believe it is important for you to understand how puppies think, why they do what they do, and how to fully welcome your new puppy to your family.
Throughout this book I’ll be saying “we” because the ideas here come from all of us here at the Zoom Room. Our goal with this book is to help you become an especially knowledgeable and responsible companion to your puppy.
We hope you will enjoy it. And most of all: Congratulations on your new puppy!
