Romantic and Byronesque, Michael Chabon’s wavy locks are floppy and carefree. In its current silvery stage, his untamed hair has the edge of a rock-and-roll poet to it. The Gap wanted to use Chabon in an advertisement, but he said no and reflected in a 2001 Rolling Stone interview: “I only take pride in things I’ve actually done myself. To be praised for something like that is just weird.” Chabon may not focus on the stylish nuance of his look, but that’s also why the Pulitzer Prize–winning author and screenwriter is a bit trendier than he gives himself credit for. Nonchalance is a good look.
