Chapter Twelve

T

he Blazing Blunderbuss was moving away from the tower as it was struggling to keep the soldiers pinned. With only Murphy on the guns, Hara was surprised they had held their own for so long. Hara tapped Gideon’s shoulder. “You need to put me down on the wall.”

He hesitated but the army below was mostly charred or melted. He swooped down and held onto the wall with one hand as he shoved the soldiers aside with the other. Hara unstrapped herself and climbed over Gideon’s shoulder onto the wall.

Hara said, “Go see if you can deal with Lysander. I’m going to deal with soldiers in the tower so the Blazing Blunderbuss can come in to pick us up.”

Gideon’s answer was to drop back off the wall and fly away from her. Hara pulled her guns out that she hadn’t even used yet and went towards the tower. No one had expected her to abandon her perch on Gideon’s shoulders so they were surprised as she rushed into the tower.

With the Blazing Blunderbuss on one side and her on the other, the soldiers had no chance. Especially as she heralded her entry with a couple of smoke bombs.
