ara cleared a drawer. “Henry said he found a job in the capital. Sad to see him go but I understand.” When Gideon didn’t say anything she looked over to him. He looked thoughtful. “How did it go?”

Gideon put his clothes on the bed. They were moving his things into her room. Hara hadn’t wanted to ask him how things had gone with Janus until they were alone.

“As you would expect,” Gideon said with a shrug of his shoulders.

Hara shook her head. “I wouldn’t have thought Janus was capable of something like this. He would have only hurt his own people.”

Gideon said, “I’ll be honest, Hara. I don’t really want to talk about Janus right now.”

Hara looked up to see that Gideon’s eyes were actually golden with heat. Hara held some of her underwear that she had been about to move from the drawer still in her hands. She put it down with a blush.

Gideon stepped up close to her. “I didn’t think you would come to this point so quickly.”

Hara wrinkled her nose. “Did I seem that stubborn?”

He shook his head and placed his hands on her waist. “Not stubborn. Protective. You have been hurt before. I’m glad you let me in.”

She rested her head on his shoulder. “I’m glad I let you in as well.”

“I suppose this is a good time to tell you we are taking Janus to the new continent found in the south.”

Hara snorted a laugh but she didn’t move his arms. She liked the way he felt against her. She could stay there forever. Considering that she was now immortal, she very well could stay like that forever.
